#698 Antique Faded Pink Silk Brocade Han Chinese Tiger Hat with Mice in Ears; another charming tiger. Gentle but still fierce enough to scare away evil spirits and to give the child the confidence it needs. Body of the Tiger is made from faded and now unfortunately soiled pink brocade, although some of what looks like spots is from the old woven colored elements of the brocade. Sections of the black silk trim are worn. Tip of the tongue is worn but mouth intact with three fangs; tiger stripes and details are made from narrow black silk flat braids; back wind flap is decorated with broad commercial symbolic ribbons; in fair condition; polished cotton lining; early 20th century; 20” circumference
