773 Kutch Protective Embroidered Child's Hood

#773  Special Protective Child’s Hood with tight mirrorwork and silk double buttonhole stitch elements surrounded by green and yellow cotton interlacing;  on red cotton with a green cotton lining; decorated with glass beads and small cowrie shells; The narrow inner borders have bundles of black thread couched with yellow silk;  It is  in from Kutch area of Gujarat State, but could have been created by formerly nomadic groups including Sodha Rajput, Adhir, or Meghwal;  17” circumference; 11” long; fair condition with some missing and loose tassels and showing wear;  c 1950s or earlier;  p 111 Textiles by Bobbie Sumberg; p 412-413 Handmade in India;
